Investec-Songo-Specialized’s Jaroslav Kulhavy and Howard Grotts won the 39km time-trial in stage five of the Cape Epic, which took place in Wellington today.
The pair retained their yellow jerseys after winning the stage in a time of 1:44:49, finishing the route 33 seconds faster than Trek Selle San Marco’s Fabian Rabensteiner and Michele Casagrande in second.

Canyon Topeak’s Alban Lakata and Kristian Hynek rounded out the podium a minute-and-a-half later.
The top three rode at a consistent pace throughout the route, as Kulhavy and Grotts was the fastest team through the water point, riding through quicker Rabensteiner and Casagrande in second.
At that same point, Lakata and Hynek were also seconds behind in third.
Heading into stage six tomorrow, Kulhavy and Grotts increased their lead to just over seven minutes ahead of Lakata and Hynek in second on the general classification standings. Cannondale Factory Racing’s Manuel Fumic and Henrique Avancini are sitting in third a further four seconds back.
