Nicola Rohrbach and Daniel Geismayr won the elite men’s 20km prologue in stage one of the Cape Epic, which took place in Cape Town today.
The Centurion Vaude pair finished the route in 45:23, faster than Cannondale Factory Racing’s Manuel Fumic and Henrique Avancini and Buff Scott MTB’s Francesc Guerra Carretero and Luis Leao Pinto in second and third respectively.

Last year’s Cape Epic champions Nino Schurter and Matthias Stirnemann finished in fourth.
NAD Pro’s Matt Beers and Nico Bell was the fastest South African team to complete the route, placing 19th overall.
