joBerg2c results & GC: Combrinck, Bell secure overall victory after stage eight

Gawie Combrinck and Nico Bell secured the overall victory of the joBerg2c after they won stage eight in Jolivet, KwaZulu-Natal, today.

The NAD Pro duo finished day eight and the last competitive stage of racing, which was contested over 99km from MacKenzie Club in Ixopo, in 3:39:10.

They were followed by Insect Science’s Alan Gordon and Timothy Hammond (3:42:45), who also finished second overall.

Third on the day in 3:48:50 and in the overall standings, were Silverback-Best4Sports-Mad Macs’ Shaun-Nick Bester and Declan Sidey.

Dormakaba’s Amy McDougall and Arno du Toit were crowned the overall mixed winners when they claimed yet another stage win in 3:59:17.

Johan Labuschagne and Catherine Williamson of Sugeons for Little Lives-Mitas crossed the finish line second in 4:11:18 and placed third in the general classification. Summit’s Darren and Candice Lill were third in 4:15:34 and finished second overall.

Matthys Beukes won the solo men’s category when he finished day eight in 3:33:15 ahead of Phillimon Sebona (3:39:11) and Tobias Flath (4:04:39).

Beukes’ teammate Sebona and Flath rounded out the overall podium.

The final stage, which is a neutral day, will take place over 84km between Jolivet and Scottburgh tomorrow.
