Gert Heyns and Arno du Toit won the 49km first stage of the Winelands MTB Encounter in Zorgvliet, Western Cape, today.
The DSV Pro Cycling pair completed the stage in 1:52:16, beating ASG-NAD’s Matt Beers and HB Kruger by just under two minutes. Imbuko-Momsen’s Marco Joubert and Dylan Rebello rounded out the podium three seconds later.

Matthew Stamatis and Samantha Sanders (Home Ice Cream-dormakaba) won the mixed category in 2:06:32. They beat David George and Katie Lennard (The Gear Change) into second. Everett Haywood and Anna Haywood (Fu Fing Fast) completed the podium half an hour later.
