Nicol Carstens and Leorine de Wet were the respective winners of the men’s and women’s event at the Gravel Travel MTB race in Wellington today.

Carstens finished the 50km course in a time of 2:01:16, while Nicholas Lambrecht placed second in 2:04:38 and Andrew Reaper finished third in 2:07:40.
Fourth place went to Malcolm Isaacs, who finished in 2:11:11, while Theodore van Wyk completed the top five when he crossed the line after 2:11:30.
De Wet claimed a winning time of 2:29:53 in the women’s race, with Sune Henning second in 2:44:04 and Dominique Provoyeur third in 2:51:16.
Heidi Nieuwoudt finished fourth in 2:59:15, while Halcyone Muller placed fifth in 2:59:17.
Adriaan van Zyl won the 25km men’s race in 1:03:56, with Morne Immelman in second after 1:06:52 and Andries van der Merwe third in 1:12:55.
The women’s race was won by Nicolien van Wyk in 1:22:56, while Susan Moore placed second in 1:28:55 and Susan Mary Kerr finished third in 1:29:36.
