Team Sky’s Egan Bernal won the 157km second stage of the Tour of California in Santa Barbara County yesterday.
The Colombian soloed to victory in 4:14:00, beating Bora-Hansgrohe’s Rafal Majka (Poland) by 21 seconds. Mitchelton-Scott’s Adam Yates (Britain) completed the podium.

Bernal, as a result of the victory, has taken the race lead ahead of stage three later today (SA time).
DiData’s Lachlan Morton (Australia) finished 20th, Tom-Jelte Slagter (Netherlands) 43rd, Jay Thomson (South Africa) 51st, Julien Vermote (Belgium) 53rd, Scott Davies (Britain) 55th and Mark Renshaw (Australia) 82nd.
