The Team Sky rider completed the tour in 25:34:19 ahead of American Tejay van Garderen (BMC) and countryman Daniel Martinez (EF Education First-Drapac).
Dimension Data’s Tom-Jelte Slagter (Netherlands) finished 38th overall, Lachlan Morton (Australia) 46th, Julien Vermote (Belgium) 75th, Jay Thomson (South Africa) 79th, Mark Cavendish (Britain) 98th, Scott Davies (Britain) 102nd and Mark Renshaw (Australia) 107th.
The stage was won by Columbia’s Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors) in 3:07:39, followed by German Max Walscheid (Sunweb) and Australian Caleb Ewan (Mitchelton-Scott).
Cavendish (Britain) came 45th on the stage, Mark Renshaw (Australia) 57th, Tom-Jelte Slagter (Netherlands) 68th, Julien Vermote (Belgium) 94th, Scott Davies (Britain) 104th, Lachlan Morton (Australia) 107th and Jay Thomson (South Africa) 108th.
