The Magoeba results: Du Toit, Buys take control on stage one

Pieter du Toit and Philip Buys took control when they won stage one of The Magoeba mountain bike race in Magoebaskloof, Limpopo, yesterday.

The Pyga-Eurosteel duo completed the 70km men’s race in 2:39:31 to beat NAD’s Wessel Botha and Nico Bell (2:46:05). They were followed home by Insect Science Pro’s Timothy Hammond and Alan Gordon (2:47:28).

Dormakaba’s Amy McDougall and Samantha Sanders (3:20:39) set the pace in the women’s race ahead of Galileo Risk’s Sarah Hill and Theresa Ralph (3:22:25), with Dropoff Daisies’ Lindie Stroebel and Rialette Kruger (4:58:06) rounding out the podium.

Dirk Nel and Ronel Nel (Lynx Real Estate) claimed the victory in the mixed event when they finished in 3:45:03. Second were Janine Muller and Heinro Malan (Petrolium Group Mixed) in 3:45:19, followed by Barend Burger and Clara Gaudard (NAD 2) in 3:49:05.
