Three South Africans – Nicholas Dlamini, Jay Thomson and Jaco Venter – have been selected for Team Dimension Data to take part in the Tour of Britain, which starts on Sunday.
The eight-day race will offer a mix of climbing and sprinting opportunities. The decisive stages are expected to be stage five, a 14km team time-trial and the final stage, a 14-lap 5.5km circuit throughout downtown London.

Australian Mark Renshaw will lead the team throughout the tour and will take charge specifically on the sprint stages.
“We’re coming in with a very young team this year so we’re looking more towards fighting for stage victories each day rather than targeting the general classification,” sports director Roger Hammond said.
“We’re really looking forward to coming to the Tour of Britain for a third year now. It’s a big event for us and is very important especially considering DiData’s standing in the UK.”
DiData’s Evald Boasson Hagen came second overall in the tour last year, losing out to LottoNL-Jumbo’s Lars Boom by eight seconds.
