Movistar’s Alejandro Valverde climbed to victory on the 163.5km second stage of the Vuelta a Espana atop the Caminito del Rey today.
The Spanyiard beat Team Sky’s Michal Kwiatkowski in the final stretch. Quick-Step Floors’ Laurens De Plus rounded out the podium three seconds later.

Kwiatkowski, however, took the race lead with a combined time of 4:22:40, 14 seconds clear from Valverde in second.
