Team Sky’s Wout Poels claimed victory on stage six of the Tour of Britain, which took place from Barrow-in-Furness to Whinlatter Pass, today.
The Dutchman crossed the finish line after 169km in a time of 4:01:51.

Quick-Step Floors’ Julian Alaphilippe took second place, with EF-Drapac’s Hugh Carthy in third. Fourth place went to Direct Énergie’s Jonathan Hivert, while BMC’s Patrick Bevin completed the top five.
“Yeah, I’m really happy. I think it’s already the third time I win uphill at the Tour of Britain so it’s really nice. I’m now second so that’s really nice and I’m quite happy with it,” said the stage winner.
Quick-Step Floors’ Julian Alaphilippe leads the overall standings, with Poels in second and LottoNL-Jumbo’s Primož Roglič in third.
