Denmark’s Annika Langvad won the women’s UCI MTB World Marathon Championships in Auronzo, Italy, today.
Langvad completed the 89km race in 4:53:13, beating Austria’s Christina Kollmann-Forstner by a comfortable six minutes. Poland’s Maja Wloszczowska came home in third another six minutes later.

Ariane Luthi, one South Africa’s “adopted citizens” who represented Switzerland, placed sixth in 5:10:43.
Robyn de Groot was the first South African to complete the race, getting home in 23rd in 5:32:45.
