Steven van Heerden and Joanna van de Winkel took the respective men’s and women’s titles at the Bestmed Satellite Classic that finished at the Cradle of Humankind visitor centre in Mogale today.
Van Heerden, of BCX, was followed home by ProTouch’s Jayde Julius and OfficeGuru’s Dylan Girdlestone.

Girdlestone’s teammate Travis Barrett finished in fourth, with Van Heerden’s teammate Brandon Downes in fifth.
Van Heerden, who won today’s race in a time of 2:35:18, also claimed victory in this year’s trapNET 360 cycle race in Pretoria.
Demacon’s Carla Oberholzer, who was the defending champion, placed second in the women’s race, while Clover’s Zanri Rossouw completed the top three.
Fourth place went to Desray Neale Sebregts, with Azulde Britz in fifth.
During the 110km feature race, cyclists had to take on a challenging route that included the infamous Hekpoort climb.
The 84km men’s race was won by Franco van der Merwe in 2:31:29, with Shaun Wolfaardt second and Darryl Westman third.
Karen da Costa won the women’s race, while Jackoline Brough placed second and Monika van der Walt third.
