Gustav Basson is looking forward to making a new start in his cycling career after signing with the TEG Procycling Continental team for 2019.
Basson was the second rider after Ryan Harris to be announced as joining the team, which was launched recently by founder Hein Badenhorst.

“This will be a new chapter in my life and I’m looking forward to it. It will be a big opportunity, with the team being Continental,” Basson told In the Bunch today.
“I’m excited about what’s coming and what is going to happen,” he said, adding that he had formed a good relationship with Badenhorst.
With the team having Continental status they will often compete in Europe, which Basson believes will give South African cyclists a good opportunity to make an impression abroad.
“The group of guys in the team are good riders and they’ll ride for each other.
“The goal is to win races and it doesn’t matter who [wins]; it’s not an individual thing. You can’t win races without being assisted by the team.”
Basson has had a breakthrough year this season, having won the inaugural Tour de Limpopo and Tour Durban in April before winning the Tour de Maurice in September.
The team is expected to comprise at least 10 riders in total.
They would ride in their first UCI-graded race at the International Rhodes Grand Prix on March 3 next year, followed by the International Tour of Rhodes on March 8, both events taking place in Greece.
