South Africa’s Timothy Hammond and Alan Gordon finished second on the 79km third stage of The Pioneer in Bannockburn, New Zealand, today.
The SPOT Africa-Insect Science pair got home in 3:54:52, losing out to Michael Vink and Tim Rush by some 12 minutes. James Williamson and Scott Lyttle completed the podium.

Kate Fluker and Mark Williams won the mixed category in 4:17:14 and Briony Mattocks and Brodie Chapman the women’s team race in 4:27:23.
