SA Omnium National Champs results: Steven van Heerden claims overall spoils

Steven van Heerden won the elite men’s SA Omnium National Championships, which concluded the national track champs, in Cape Town today.

Van Heerden finished with a total of 185 points after four events, beating David Maree into second by nine points and Nolan Hoffman third by 19 points.

Maree was reportedly leading by 14 points heading into the final event, the points race, before Van Heerden lapped the field and took the overall spoils.

Maroesjka Matthee won the elite women’s Omnium with 146 points, beating Ilze Bole into second and Victoria Bester third.
