Andrew Hill won stage one of the Drak Descent mountain bike race in the Underberg, KwaZulu-Natal, today.
He finished the 42km solo men’s race in 1:53:36, beating Komborero Bere (1:54:21) and Jedson Tooms (1:58:31) to the line.

Donna Winter claimed the women’s victory in 2:33:40. She was followed home by Debrah Thomas (2:34:29) and Phillipa Hume (2:36:35).
The men’s team competition was won by Andrew Johnson and Tyronne White (1:54:19). Second were Carl Adendorff and Dean van Dyk (2:03:12) with Grant Lavers and Grant Underwood (2:03:59) third.
Landy Puddu and Raymakers Liesbeth (2:38:28) were the first women’s team home. They were followed by Desiree Verwey and Erika Velissariou (3:02:43). Third were Frances Marsburg and Carol Thomas (3:04:23).
In the mixed event, Andrew Houston and Bianca Haw (2:06:48) took the spoils ahead of Rouxda and Jacques Grobler (2:26:08). Hayden Louw and Michele Roods (2:43:16) claimed the final spot on the podium.
