A cyclist died when a minibus taxi drove into a group of riders in the north of Durban early this morning.
The accident occurred on the M4 South Bound just before the M27 Umdloti off-ramp shortly after 7am. The taxi drove into a group of cyclists, killing one and injuring two others.

“Two of them sustained moderate injuries, while the other one was critical. He eventually died when he arrived at hospital,” Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst told In the Bunch today.
Herbst said the two injured riders sustained soft-tissue injuries and abrasions while the fatality suffered “multiple body fractures”.
He confirmed that the taxi did not flee the scene and the driver stopped to provide assistance.
“Someone would have definitely got his details at the scene,” Herbst said.
Once stabilised the patients were transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital for further treatment.
The names of the dead and injured cyclists have not yet been released.
