Jack van Wyk and Catherine Colyn won the respective men’s and women’s 97km race in the opening PPA Sportive series event, which took place at Simonsvlei in Paarl today.
Van Wyk sprinted to victory in 2:24:00, beating Theuns van der Bank and Charl van Wyk to the line.

Colyn won the women’s race in 2:34:23, edging Lucy James into second. Lesley Prest rounded out the podium almost half-and-hour later.
Siphamandla Sizani (1:12:38) and Philippa Dower (1:14:33) were the respective winners in the 38km race.
