Alwyn Dippenaar won the men’s feature race on the first stage of the Bielie Mielie MTB Classic in Reitz, Free State, today.
He completed the 101km race in 4:00:10, beating Deon du Toit (4:11:45) and Pierre Erasmus (4:11:46) to the finish.
Erika Bornman led the women’s race home when she completed day one in 4:53:09. Second and third were Caroline Francis (4:59:34) and Amanda-Leigh Mundell (5:05:27).

Boela van Staden (2:33:36) claimed the honours in the 65km men’s race. He was followed home by Albert van Deventer (2:40:57) and Bernard van Jaarsveld (2:42:25).
The women’s race was won by Jo Muller in 3:15:58. Madeleine Pieterse (3:22:43) came in second with Bernice van staden (3:24:49) rounding out the podium.
