SCOTT-SRAM’s Nino Schurter and Lars Forster clinched the Cape Epic title, as Kross-Spur’s Sergio Mantecon Gutierrez and Ondrej Cink sprinted to victory in the 70km Grand Finale at the Val de Vie Estate, Western Cape, today.
Gutierrez and Cink edged PYGA Euro Steel’s Matthys Beukes and Philip Buys by a millisecond in the final sprint to win stage seven in 2:53:07.

Schurter and Forster claimed the overall title with a final time of 26:09:45, just over seven-and-a-half minutes ahead of Cannondale Factory Racing’s Manuel Fumic and Henrique Avancini. The winning team only finished 14th on the final stage.
Specialized Foundation NAD’s Alan Hatherly and Matt Beers comfortably clinched the red African jersey after finishing fifth overall.
