German Karl Platt retained his lead after stage two of the Cape Rouleur, which started and finished in Franschhoek, Western Cape, yesterday.
The stage comprised a 114km route but which had only three timed sections – a 5km climb up Viljoen’s Pass, a one-kilometre sprint and an 8km stage section until the base of Franschhoek Pass.

Platt won the climb and came second behind Shameeg Salie in the stage. James Louter won the sprint.
Briton Jayati Hine won both the climb and stage in the women’s race, while Abigail Vyner took the sprint.
