Cherise Willeit won the 78km women’s race at the 41st Cape Town Cycle Tour today.

The Investec-Songo rider, who won the event three times before, beat Demacon-Max Wax’s Kim le Court and Titan Racing Bikes’ Tiffany Keep in the sprint to the finish at the Cape Town Stadium.
Willeit was part of a group of six riders who got away on the Suikerbossie climb when Jo van de Winkel attacked. The rest of the leading bunch included Candice Lill, Samantha Sanders, Keep and Carla Oberholzer.
With 3km to go, they were caught by the chasing group, which resulted in a bunch sprint to the finish.
