Sam Gaze and Anna van der Breggen won the respective men’s and women’s Champions Race in Kayamandi, Stellenbosch, yesterday evening.
New Zealander’s Gaze, who won the Cape Town Cycle Tour last weekend, beat multiple world champion Nino Schurter into second. The men raced for 35 minutes, plus a lap.

The Netherlands’ Van der Breggen won the women’s race, finishing ahead of Nadine Rieder. The women contested over 20 minutes, plus a lap.
The race is traditionally serves as a spectator-friendly appetiser for the Cape Epic, which starts with a prologue on Sunday.
