Dion Guy won the 315km Trans Xhariep ultra endurance race that started and finished at Gariep Dam, on the Eastern Cape border, today.
Guy set a new course record, completing the race in 12 hours, 14 minutes and 36 seconds.

Just more than halfway into the race, at the 168km checkpoint, Guy held a 25-minute lead over the bunch and, according to marshals, he had “not even looked tired yet” by that time.
The 46-year-old is a renowned ultra-endurance rider, having been the first South African and second overall rider to complete The Munga in 2017 – even with a broken rib.
He took part again this past December and improved on his previous time by some seven hours, finishing fifth overall.
