South African Nicholas Dlamini will make his first European race start of the season at the Tour of the Basque Country in Spain today.
After dealing with visa issues, the 23-year-old will be looking to get off to a flying start in the six-stage road race that begins with an individual time trial in Zumarraga this afternoon and ends in Eibar.

The Dimension Data cyclist’s punchy riding style will play an important role in the team’s overall objectives.
Dlamini will be joined on the start line by fellow countryman Jacques Janse van Rensburg, as well as Steve Cummings, Tom-Jelte Slagter, Ben King, Danilo Wyss and Amanuel Gebrezgabihier.
The outfit’s sport director Bingen Fernandez said it was a difficult race over challenging terrain
“The peloton is really flying at the moment too, so only those guys in top condition can expect to feature in this race.
“We have some guys well suited to the stages this year so if we can race with positive intent and have good legs then a top result is definitely possible,” said Fernandez.
