Emanuel Buchmann soloed to victory on stage five of the Tour of the Basque Country in Spain today.
The German finished in 3:44:14 atop of Arrate after a 149.8km stage, which started in Arrigorriaga earlier.

With more or less 1km to the finish, Bora-Hansgrohe’s Buchmann built up a gap of just over one minute to chasers Ion Izagirre Insausti (Astana Pro Team), Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) and Jakob Fuglsang (Astana Pro Team).
But they could not catch him, which led to Spain’s Insausti finishing one minute and eight seconds later, followed by Britain’s Yates and Denmark’s Fuglsang, who came in at the same time as Insausti.
Buchmann now leads the overall standings in 16:23:30 ahead of Insausti (+0:00:54) and German Maximilian Schachmann (+0:01:04).
