Ramses Bekkenk defended his title when he won the solo men’s race at the 36ONE Mountain Bike Challenge in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, today.
He beat Dusty Day (14:22:30) and Jaco Davel (14:35:13) when he completed the 361km event in 13:48:53.
Fienie Barnard led the women’s race home in 17:12:43. She was followed by Wilmien Chamberlain (19:52:56) and Loraine Strydom (21:07:45).
Marc van Staden and Bryce Hennessy (17:34:11) secured the victory in the men’s team competition. They were followed by Gerhard Booysen and Sydney Swart (18:01:16) while Dylan Joseph and Martin Hansson (13:44:05) placed third.
The 180.5km men’s title went to Jacques Tattersall after he finished in 7:23:11 ahead of Steven Wolhuter (7:32:19) and Shaun Leach (7:52:51).
Charlene Vernooy (9:33:32) claimed the women’s victory over Lolita van Aardt (9:38:29).
