Italian Dario Cataldo won stage 15 of the Giro d’Italia in Como, Italy, today.
The Astana rider finished the 232km course, which kicked off in Ivrea, in a time of 5:48:15.
Mattia Cattaneo (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec) followed him home, with Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) rounding out the podium.
“I was not thinking to go in the break today because I had two difficult days. This morning I was just thinking ‘I have to go to the finish line’,” said Cataldo.
“At the beginning the legs were ok, I just tried one time to follow Cattaneo and the legs were going well.
“It was an amazing finale.”
Richard Carapaz (Movistar Team) held on to the maglia rosa, extending his lead over Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) to 47 seconds.
Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida) remained in third.
