Fritz Warnich and Jan Hugo won the men’s race on the opening stage of the Gravel & Grape Extreme 2-day mountain bike race in Rawsonville, Western Cape, today.
They finished the 68km race in 2:42:11 to beat Pieter Marx and Francois Auret (2:47:14) to the finish. Zane Zandberg and Philip Naude (2:47:24) took the final spot on the podium.
The mixed event was won by Lene du Bois and Matthew Daneel in 2:58:17. They were followed by Nico and Marie Stofberg (3:05:57) with Elishia and Kobus Drotschie (3:11:33) in third.
Helene Rabie and Stephne van Niekerk led the women’s race home in 3:45:36.
