Connor Brown sprinted to victory on stage two of the Tour de Limpopo in Tzaneen today.
The Dimension Data Continental rider completed the 96.6km route, which kicked off in Polokwane, in a time of 2:16:46.
ProTouch’s Clint Hendricks secures second place, with Brown’s teammate Alexander Konychev third.
The latter also leads the overall standings, with OfficeGuru’s Marc Pritzen second and Brown third.
“I think a lot of the other guys went really early, so I kind of just played it safe and waited until we got to the barriers and then launched my sprint there to the finish,” said the King of the Mountains leader.
He added that there was a break 20km into the race and his team thought that was “pretty dangerous”.
“On the climb we just went, got all the guys on the front and just went full gas to try and get the break back and also drop some of the sprinters.”
The third stage will take place over 103km from Tzaneen to Coach House.
