Peter Sagan put a below par spring campaign behind him when he took victory on stage one of the Tour of California today.
The former world champion, who is in his 10th participation in the North American event, notched up his 17th stage in total when he put away the other fast men on the 143km stage that started and finished in Sacramento.
Travis McCabe (USA National Team) and Maximilian Walscheid (Sunweb) completed the podium.
