Entries for the 2020 Liberty TransCape MTB Encounter will open in June as race organisers ASG Events continue their efforts to offer another high-quality mountain-bike event taking riders through the Western Cape.
After covering 591km from George to Franschhoek this year, the next edition will take place from February 2 to 8. Registration and the race briefing, which is compulsory for all entrants, will be held on February 1.
Blessed with scenic trails throughout the event, ASG Events race director Lenore Collett said they felt it was a journey every mountain-biker should consider taking.
“The entire experience is something you’ll struggle to find elsewhere and our mission is to make it inclusive for all riders.
“This includes allowing those who prefer electronic bikes to take part. It’s not an official category, but you still get your finisher’s medal on the last day.”
Collett said a big part of their target market were those in the corporate world who needed a break from the stress of running a business.
“It is aimed at those who have a sense of adventure – and humour – and just need some fresh air with a bit of a physical challenge thrown in.
“Our planning revolves around a week the competitors will never forget, both on and off the bike.”
Collett said they had put in a lot of effort to make the 2019 race a success and they would continue to refine the overall offering.
