The Dutch city Utrecht will host the start of next year’s Vuelta a Espana on August 14, as announced by organisers yesterday.
The opening stage will consist of a 23.7km team time trial, while the second stage (183km) will kick off in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and travel back to the host city.
The third stage (193km) will take place in Breda.
“It’s great that there’s a concrete date now. We’re looking forward to making beautiful plans, for and by residents and visitors of the regions of Utrecht and Noord-Brabant,” said the mayor of Utrech, Jan van Zanen.
Utrecht also played host to the Tour de France’s start four years ago.
