Three-time cyclo-cross world champion Wout van Aert crashed on a corner within the final 2km of today’s Tour de France individual time-trial and was forced to abandon the 21-stage Tour.
The Belgian national time-trial champ, who won stage 10 on Monday, collided with a barrier.
According to a tweet posted by his Jumbo-Visma team, his injuries were being assessed by medical staff. They also stated that he was conscious and had a flesh wound on his right upper leg.
