Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon-Circus) sprinted to victory in the 181km opening stage of the Arctic Race of Norway in Leknes yesterday.
The Dutchman beat Danny van Poppel (Team Jumbo-Visma) into second, with Andrea Pasqualon (Wanty-Gobert) completing the podium.
Van der Poel, who won this year’s Amstel Gold Race, also took the overall lead.
The stage win came just days after the 24-year-old won the mountain bike world cup in Lenzerheide.
