Elia Viviani sprinted to another Cyclassics Hamburg win in Hamburg, Germany, today.
The Italian, who also won in 2017 and 2018, was closely followed by Australian Caleb Ewan and compatriot Giacomo Nizzolo in the 216km road race.
“I’m very happy, especially as it wasn’t easy today, with the break opening a huge gap and the hot temperatures we had,” said Viviani, who became the first rider to win the German one-day race on three occasions.
“That meant we had to spend a lot of energy to control the escapees and the late attackers, but we stayed focused, motivated and did a great job.
“I am proud of the guys, to whom I want to say a big thanks, as I couldn’t have pulled it off without them.”
