South Africa’s Ryan Gibbons will play a key role for Dimension Data at the 52nd edition of the Bretagne Classic Ouest-France that starts in Plouay tomorrow.
Gibbons, who claimed gold in the individual time-trial and silver in the elite men’s road race at the African Games recently, and Italian Giacomo Nizzolo, third in last weekend’s Cyclassics Hamburg, will both act as the team’s sprinters.
Denmark’s Michael Valgren and the Czech Republic’s Roman Kreuziger will provide strong breakaway options for the African WorldTour team.
Valgren, who finished second last year, said he was looking forward to the race as they were bringing a strong and in-form group of riders to the event.
He added that if the weather was good the race would end in a sprint finish.
“The weather prediction looks promising for tomorrow. If it’s bad, it could be Roman or myself [going for the victory].”
The rest of the squad comprises Belgian Julien Vermote, Swiss Danilo Wyss and South African Jacques Janse van Rensburg, who will all play a supporting role.
