Matthys Beukes and Candice Lill stole the show at the fourth leg of the Trailseeker Series when they won the 70km men’s and women’s races in Wellington, Western Cape, today.
Beukes finished almost two minutes ahead of Gert Heyns and over four minutes in front of Philip Buys.
Lill rode solo into the finish to beat Samantha Sanders, who finished more than 11 minutes after her, and Amy Beth McDougall, a further three minutes back.
The 40km men’s event saw Johan van Zyl take the win after he came in 17 seconds in front of Jamie Penfold. Nico Pfitzenmaier followed just over one minute later.
Andrea Schofmann also proved strongest after she completed the race in 2:25:41.
