Australian Michael Matthews successfully defended his Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec title yesterday.
The Team Sunweb rider beat Bora-Hansgrohe’s Peter Sagan and CCC’s Greg van Avermaet into second and third respectively.
UAE Team Emirates’s Diego Ulissi placed fourth, with Trek-Segafredo’s Jasper Stuyven completing the top five.
“I’m still speechless. To do the double here in Québec after an amazing race from the whole team; it’s just incredible,” said Matthews.
“The guys worked hard for me all day so I just dug deep at the end for them and I’m happy I could finish it off. I have no words but to thank my team, my wife and my coaches for all the support.”
