South Africa’s Eddie van Heerden placed just outside the top three in the prologue at the Tour of China in Hewan today.
The 5.2km race, which opened the second edition of the event, was won by Artem Ovechkin.
Alastair Christie-Johnston was runner-up, with Sindre Bjerkestrand Haugsvaer third.
SA’s Reynard Butler placed 39th, with fellow countrymen Jayde Julius 41st and Mitchell Eliot 91st.
