Brandon Downes was the highest placed South African when he finished 17th overall in the Vuelta Ciclista a La Isle De Tenerife in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Spain, yesterday.
Fellow South Africans Louis Visser and Flavio Venceslau placed 20th and 24th, while Casper Kruger finished 30th and Tristan Cuthbert 47th.
The four-stage road race was won by Adria Moreno, with Romain Campistrous second and Florent Castellarnau third.
