A 52-year-old male cyclist died after going into cardiac arrest while competing in the Amashova Durban Classic near Hillcrest today.
The rider’s tragic death was reported on the event’s social media pages.
It was confirmed by the race’s medical partners ER24 EMS.
Following the rider’s collapse, bystanders initiated CPR. This was continued by paramedics on the scene and on the way to hospital.
However, despite these ongoing efforts, the rider did not recover.
