Berge & Dale is an official premier seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
After competing in the event three times, this marks Barrett’s first classic victory.
“I’m over the moon to have won the race today. It was my first big classic win so it’s definitely a weight lifted off of my shoulders,” Barrett told In the Bunch.
Van de Winkel finished second in last year’s event and had her sights on taking the win today.
“I’m very happy. I haven’t had many podium places this year so far and I really wanted this win,” said van de Winkel.
