Five more international events, scheduled for next month, have been postponed as part of the fight to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Paris-Roubaix (April 12), Fleche Wallonne (April 22), Liege-Bastogne-Liege (April 26), Tour of Flanders (April 5) and Tour de Yorkshire (April 30 to May 3) will not take place on their scheduled dates.
Organisers are trying to organise new dates for the events.
“Indeed, the new measures imposed by the federal government prevent us from organising the Tour of Flanders,” said Tomas van den Spiegel, CEO of Flanders Classics.
“There are, of course, more important issues than bike racing right now. We hope that we will all succeed in creating a climate in which we can, in the short term, resume our normal daily lives.”
*Following the publication of this article, it was announced that Scheldeprijs and De Brabantse Pijl, which were scheduled for April 8 and 15 respectively, have been cancelled.
