Three-time Cape Town Cycle Tour winner Nolan Hoffman has his sights set on yet another victory when he takes part in the event on Sunday.
The 34-year-old Team Enza rider, who is currently participating in the Tour of Good Hope, says the Cycle Tour is an event he and his team look forward to every year.
“It’s the biggest event on the local calendar and it’s a big goal for our team,” Hoffman told In the Bunch.
“We race to win, so first place is our goal.”
Hoffman says that while he is looking forward to the event he is not entirely happy with his preparation leading up to the race.
“My condition is not 100% where I want to be.
“I didn’t get a lot of racing in before the event, not as much as I would have liked to.
“We will have to wait for race day and see what happens.”
Hoffman has competed in the event 15 times and has won three times (2014, 2015, and 2018). With so much experience under his belt, he says the main thing to be concerned about is the weather.
“The wind can be a game changer and make the race harder.
“Getting over Suikerbossie is the biggest obstacle of the event.
“I hope it’s a big group that goes into the bottom of the climb because that makes it easier.”
