Pauline Ferrand Prevot proved to be in a class of her own on a muddy track to win the women’s elite cross-country race at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Leogang-Salzburgerland, Austria, today.
France’s defending champion stormed to her third title by beating Italy’s Eva Lechner and Australia’s Rebecca McConnel by a massive three minutes.
Switzerland’s Sina Frei came home in fourth, 3:46 down, with Britain’s Isla Short fifth, 4:17 off the pace.
Switzerland’s Yolanda Neff, the 2017 champion, rolled home in sixth, 4:46 behind.
Ferrand Prevot won her first title in 2015.
