South Africa’s Ryan Gibbons will make his UAE Team Emirates debut at the Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise.
The 42nd edition of the one-day race will take place on Sunday, January 31, over 171km around the city of Marseille in France.
Johannesburg-born Gibbons signed for UAE Team Emirates in October 2020 having previously ridden for the NTT Pro Cycling set-up.
He is part of a seven-rider line-up announced by the UCI WorldTour team after they wrapped up a pre-season training camp in the UAE.
The rest of the team comprises Italians Alessandro Covi, Matteo Trentin and Oliviero Troia, Norwegian Vegard Stake Laengen, Portuguese Rui Oliveira and Belarusian Aleksandr Riabushenko.
Gibbons, who has competed in five Grand Tours to date, is the reigning South African road champion.
France’s Benoit Cosnefroy will defend his Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise title.
