The 20-year-old Durbanite was named in the SA team for the African champs to be held in Cairo from March 2 to 6.
Speaking to In the Bunch, Stedman was honest enough to admit that he wasn’t sure what to expect in North Africa.
“With it being my first African champs I don’t really know what to expect.
“I’ve never raced in Egypt before so to be honest I don’t really know what the race conditions will be like.
“I’ll definitely have a look before we depart. Hopefully it won’t be much different to here in SA,” Stedman said.
Stedman, who was named in the largely U23 Shesha Fuels Racing team line-up for this season, confirmed his training was going well and that he was focusing solely on the road in his preparation.
“My training has been going really well. With there having been little to no racing, I’ve had a lot of time to do some good blocks and work on my weaknesses.
“I’m only riding road at the moment to try and prepare myself as well as possible for Egypt,” Stedman concluded.
The men’s elite/U23 road race over 156km is scheduled for the final day of the championships on Saturday, March 6.
