Dutch rider Dylan van Baarle put in a stunning solo effort to win Dwars door Vlaanderen today.
Van Baarle (Ineos) won after a 52km solo ride with Christophe Laporte (Cofidis) in second, 26 seconds behind. Tim Merlier (Alpecin-Fenix) took third.
South Africa’s Ryan Gibbons finished at the front-end of the peloton in 24th place.
Dwars door Vlaanderen, which was first held in 1945, started in Roeselare and finished 184km later in Waregem.
This year’s event was the 75th edition after last season’s race was cancelled due to Covid-19.
